More than forty years of creativity inspired by light, emotion, and the dynamics of stage space.
ART BORN FROM INDIVIDUALITY
Creator of Individual Art
“Today’s art is the art of individuality. Artists, having rejected strict canons, strive to create their own unique style. They want at all costs to be different — recognizable among thousands of similar creators. They forge their own mark, their own symbol.
Loose associations of artists with a similar artistic outlook — yet without limiting one another — are being formed. They prefer to stand apart, to create new trends and directions in art, ones that are truly their own. Often they walk through art alone, play for high stakes, and sometimes they simply win.”
Kajetan Kreutz Majewski
Beginnings and education
Raised in a creative environment, I developed a sensitivity to light, color, and the material of painting from an early age. I received my artistic education at the High School of Fine Arts in Łódź, and later in the painting studio of the Grand Theater, where my precision, color harmony, and refined technique were formed.
Paintings and portraits
Easel painting remains the center of my artistic work. As a member of ZPAP and the Association of Polish Painters and Graphic Artists, I have created numerous portraits of prominent personalities, seeking not only likeness but also psychological depth and individual character.
Theater and film
Working with the Dramatic Theater and Polish Television allowed me to combine painting with the creation of stage space. Designing sets for theatrical and film productions taught me to build a visual narrative based on light, rhythm, and balanced composition.
with Maria Foltyn
Many years of cooperation with Professor Maria Foltyn at the International Moniuszko Festival allowed me to create stage designs characterized by a high culture of form. I built spaces full of subtlety, elegance, and dramatic depth, which became the hallmark of my style.
Creativity today
Today, I combine my years of experience as a stage designer with figurative painting, creating portraits, painted compositions, and commissioned works. My paintings are held in both Polish and international collections, and I continue to develop my art toward balanced, emotional figuration.

Stage design debut
The breakthrough came with the staging of the opera “Paria” in Cuba — an exceptional event in the history of Polish stage design. After returning to Poland, I collaborated with renowned Warsaw theaters, creating scenographies based on painterly thinking, attention to detail, and classical aesthetics.

BIOGRAFIA
From an early age, I have been connected with the artistic environment, coming from a family of visual artists.
After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, I worked at the Grand Theatre in Łódź (Opera), where I served as Deputy Head of the Painting Studio from 1977 to 1982. This period also included cooperation with Telewizja Polska (TVP) in Łódź, creating studio decorations for Studio Sport, Election Studios, and various outdoor productions, including Soldier Songs.
From 1982 to 1992, I worked at the Dramatic Theatre in Łódź (now the K. Dejmek Theatre) as Deputy Head of the Painting and Modeling Studio. At the same time, between 1985 and 1989, I collaborated with the Łódź film industry in the production of commercial films.
In 1991, I made my stage design debut with the scenography for the opera Paria by Stanisław Moniuszko, directed by Professor Maria Foltyn, staged in Havana, Cuba—the first and only Polish stage design debut presented abroad.
In Poland, I debuted at the Grand Theatre in Warsaw, preparing the scenography for Mozart and Salieri, directed by Marek Sikora, with Andrzej Hiolski as Salieri. Shortly afterwards, I designed the scenography for the play Fallen Angels, directed by Michael Hackett, at the Dramatic Theatre in Warsaw.
Years of collaboration with Professor Maria Foltyn resulted in the creation of scenography for nine editions of the Moniuszko Festival in Kudowa-Zdrój, including posters, stage decorations, and urban installations. During this period, I also designed scenography for the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Stanisław Moniuszko International Vocal Festivals in Warsaw.
Alongside stage design, I continuously developed my easel painting practice. In 1998, I became a member of the Association of Polish Painters and Graphic Artists in Warsaw, actively participating in individual and group exhibitions.
In 2000, under the direction of Stanisław Pietras, I created the final festival scenography for Kudowa-Zdrój and concluded my long-term collaboration with the city, shifting my focus increasingly toward painting.
On various anniversary occasions, I created decorative paintings for:
– the 50th Anniversary of the Szczecin Opera,
– the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk,
– the Jubilee of the Old Theatre in Kraków (a reconstruction inspired by Karol Frycz).
After a ten-year break, I returned to stage design during the 50th Jubilee Moniuszko Festival, again under the direction of Stanisław Rybarczyk, creating scenography for five subsequent festival editions, up to 2015. I also prepared scenography for the 1st and 2nd Andrzej Hiolski International Festivals in Kudowa-Zdrój.
In 2009, together with director Mariusz Pilawski, I co-founded the Little Theatre in Manufaktura in Łódź, and in the following years created scenography for around seven theatrical productions. For this contribution, I received a commemorative medal for shaping the artistic identity of the Little Theatre (2009–2019).
My artistic achievements include portraits of:
– Tadeusz Puławski,
– Tadeusz Kościuszko (National Museum in Warsaw),
– Ignacy Jan Paderewski,
– Stanisław Moniuszko,
– Frédéric Chopin,
– George Sand, among others.
In 2014, I applied for membership in the Łódź District of ZPAP, serving as a Delegate to the Regional Convention and as a member of the District Audit Committee.
As a member of ZPAP and the Association of Polish Painters and Graphic Artists, I remain fully devoted to painting, which is my closest and most essential form of artistic expression.
